Causes and strategies for unexpected extubation in gastrointestinal surgery

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the cause of unexpected etubation and the correspondent nursing strategy.

Methods

Fifty-six patients were collected at the department of colorectal surgery of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from January 2013 to December 2015.

Results

The main causes of unexpected extubation were severe condition, ignorance of nursing work, inappropriate distribution of medical resources and inadequate health education for patients. Based on these findings, we provide some strategies: optimizing distribution of medical resources, boosting the education of patients and importing the advanced ideas.

Conclusion

By analyzing the causes of accidental detachment, the corresponding nursing strategy can reduce the incidence of accidental detachment, and provide patients with more quality services.
