Research progression of perioperative nutritional assessment in hospitalized patients with colorectal cancer

Abstract:

Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequent gastrointestinal tract malignant tumors.There is a high prevalence of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with colorectal carcinoma.Malnutrition may increase the incidence of postoperative complications to a great extent.Therefore, it is particularly necessary for these patients to carry out reasonable nutritional assessment, nutritional support to improve their nutritional status perioperatively, which may improve their quality of life, decrease the rate of postoperative complications, shorten the recovery time, and improve patients’ outcomes.However, perioperative nutritional assessment is still in need to be strengthened in China, which will be reviewed in this article.
