Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the effect of the PDCA cycle management method on improving the turnover rate in the operating room.
Methods Applying continuous method of the plan, do, check, act, to address the problem of surgical turnover, evaluating the anesthesia preparation time, surgery waiting time, anesthesia recovery time, then waiting time between January to June in 2016 (after implementation) and January to June in 2015 (before implementation), assess the effect of PDCA implementation.
Results The anesthesia preparation time (11.66±1.71 before, 6.58±1.48 after, t=6.318, P<0.01), the time of operation (10.93±4.97 before, 9.30±3.13 after, t=2.924, P=0.004), the anesthesia recovery time (12.68±5.42 before, 10.94±3.27 after, t=2.785, P=0.006), waiting time (17.53±5.36 before, 14.39±6.74 after, t=4.143, P<0.01) were significantly shorter than those before implementation, the difference was statistically significant.
Conclusion PDCA cycle management method can significantly improve the turnover rate and improve the quality of nursing care in the operating room.
