The current status of exercise self-efficacy in patients with colorectal cancer

Abstract:

Objective

To understand the status quo of exercise self-efficacy in patients with colorectal cancer.

Methods

134 colorectal patients were recruited by convenience sampling from April to September in 2017. They were investigated with the Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale and demographics and health status questionnaire.

Results

The score of the exercise self-efficacy was (51.86 ±14.71). The highest scoring item was ″during the vacation″, and the lowest scoring item was ″when I exercise, I feel ill″. Colorectal cancer patients with better economic condition have higher exercise self-efficacy.

Conclusion

The level of exercise self-efficacy in colorectal cancer patients was in the middle and remains to be further improved. Ample leisure time can be improved the exercise self-efficacy in patients with colorectal cancer. Medical personnel should strengthen the education about exercise and focus on the colorectal patients in the status of poor health and poor economy.
