Principle of surgical treatment for chronic constipation

Abstract:

Here we discussed the principles of surgical treatment for chronic constipation.The indications for surgical treatment include confirmation of slow transit of colon, more than 3 years of symptoms and no improvement after internal medicine treatment, patients desire for surgery, no mental disorders, to discovery with or without outlet obstructive constipation and congenital megacolon.The most popular procedures are total or subtotal colectomy.The indications for surgical treatment of internal rectal prolapse include serious symptoms of internal rectal prolapse, and no improvement after systemic internal medicine treatment.The first procedure is trans-anal surgery.The indications for surgical treatment of rectocele include with serious symptoms, rectocele size is more than 3 cm, with contrast medium left, and need hand assistant defecation.The effect of both trans-anal and trans-vaginal procedures for pure rectocele is satisfactory.For the puborectal muscle syndrome, the most popular treatment is anal dilatation or biofeedback treatment.
