Understanding the anatomical and embryological basis of complete mesocolic excision

Abstract:

As the progress and standardization of the modern surgical techniques, the nonstandard surgical methods of colon cancer shows more and more disadvantages.There are significant differences in resection efficacy and prognosis between different methods.The complete mesocolic excision(CME)is gradually accepted as a new standard because of its high complete mesocolic resection rate.This article analyzed the anatomical and embryological basis of complete mesocolicexcision, and expressed the views of the author.
