Abstract:

Objective

We aimed to observe the clinical efficacy of constipation ointment retention enema in the treatment of rectal mucosal constipation.

Methods

According to the diagnostic criteria of rectal mucosal prolapsed constipation, sixty patients with rectal mucosal prolapsed constipation admitted from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected from the Department of Anorectal Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University and Department of Endocrinology, the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TCM. According to random numbers in statistics, the table method divided them into treatment group and control group. The treatment group was given constipation ointment retention enema; the control group was given compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder (IV) orally. The main observation indicators were changes in the duration of defecation, laborious defecation, incomplete emptying, anal right angle, and changes in the first defecation time.

Results

Fifty-nine cases completed the clinical study, including 29 cases in the treatment group and 30 cases in the control group. The total effective rate was 90.00% in the treatment group and 76.66% in the control group; the treatment group was able to improve the duration of defecation (t=1.721, P=0.000) and the effect of incomplete emptying (t=2.378, P=0.000), changes in the right angle of the anus (t=3.138, P=0.001), and first defecation time (t=-4.183, P=0.01) was better than the control group; the treatment group and the control group were improving bowel effort (t=0.249, P=0.735). The curative effect was equivalent.

Conclusion

Constipation ointment retention enema has a definite effect in treating rectal mucosal prolapsed constipation and is worthy of further clinical application.
