Abstract:

Objective

To observe the effect of propofol on BNIPL-2 in colon cancer cells and to investigate the mechanism.

Methods

The TCGA database was utilized to analyze the colorectal cancer patients. The effect of propofol on cell viability and tumorigenicity was demonstrated by CRT8 assay and qRT-PCR.

Results

BNIPL-2 was highly expressed in colon cancer tissues and was associated with a poor prognosis and malignant stage. BNIPL-2 promoted the proliferation of CRC. Phenol inhibits the proliferation of colon cancer cells and down-regulates the expression of BNIPL-2 in SW480 colon cancer cells.

Conclusion

Propofol inhibits colon cancer proliferation by down-regulating BNIPL-2, which promotes better understanding of the use of propofol in clinical.

Key words: Colonic neoplasms, Propofol, Tumor proliferation, BNIPL-2, Prognosis
