Effect of extended care on life quality of patients with colostomy after Miles operation for rectal cance

Abstract:

Objective

To disscuss the effect of extended care on life quality of patients with colostomy after Miles operation for rectal cancer.

Methods

60 patients with colostomy after Miles operation were randomed divided into control group and experimental group, each group was including 30 cases. Control group adopts outpatient follow-up, traditional response measures. Experimental group adopts extended care services including the nurse communication, video, telephone follow-up, seminar. Incidence of complications, the establishment of a regular defecation, self-care ability, life attitude and sexual satisfaction were compared between two groups.

Results

The experiment group was superior in the aspect of incidence of complications, the establishment of a regular defecation, self-care ability, life attitude and sexual satisfaction (P<0.05) .

Conclusions

Extended care plays an importment role of improving the life quality in patients with colostomy.
