Abstract:

Recently, the advantages of laparoscopic technique in the early rehabilitation after colorectal cancer surgery have been confirmed by series of randomized controlled trials: less bleeding; slight postoperative pain; lower incidence of intestinal paralysis and shorter hospital stay. Meanwhile, studies have shown that the laparoscopic surgery can get the same oncology effect compared to the open surgery, in addition, some other studies have also demonstrated that the laparoscopic group can get a higher number of lymph nodes. Some doctors believe that robotic surgery can overcome the limitations of the conventional laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Currently, the application of robotic technique is more common in rectal surgery, while the situation is opposite in colon cancer. The author makes an objective analysis about the application of robotic technique in colorectal surgery from present and prospects.
