Results of colorectal neoplasm screening among 203 asymptomatic persons by colonoscopy

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the incidence of colorectalcancer and adenoma in colonoscopy screening among local healthy persons and analysis their clinical character.

Methods

Between January and December of 2012, 203 asymptomaticindividual underwent complete colonoscopy in our center.Their report and clinical character were analyzed to identify high risk factor of colorectal neoplasm.

Results

3 cases(1.48%)of colorectal cancer, and 70 cases(34.48%)of adenoma were diagnosed.30 of them had high grade adenomas.People older than 60s(p=0.013)and smokers(p=0.037)have a higher incidence of colorectal neoplasm.

Conclusions

The incidence of adenocarcinoma and adenoma among these 203 personsare 1.48% and 34.48%, respectively.People elder than 60 and smokers have a higher incidence.
