Research progress in the recovery of anal function after rectal cancer surgery

Abstract:

Up to 90% of patients after rectal resection who experience various degrees of low anterior resection syndrome (LARS). At present, there are a variety of methods for the treatment of LARS, including pelvic floor rehabilitation, sacral nerve stimulation, transanal irrigation and drug treatment. However, there is still no consensus or guidelines. The recent research progress of the recovery of anal function after surgical treatment of rectal cancer is reviewed in this paper.
