Progress in the surgical treatment of rectocele

Abstract:

Rectocele is one of the major reasons of obstructed defecation syndrome, and the quality of life for many patients has been seriously affected due to long-term constipation. Surgical operation is an important method for the therapy of rectocele. Prompt surgery and appropriate surgical procedures are critical when surgery is indicated. According to the different surgical approaches, surgery can be divided into transanal, transvaginal, transabdominal and transperineal procedures. This article, which was introduced mainly from the above four surgical approaches, reviewed the recent research advances in order to provide the evidence for the surgical treatment of rectocele.
