Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the value of endoscopic ultrasonography in the diagnosis of mesenchymal tumors in the digestive tract.

Methods

A total of 130 patients with complete endoscopic ultrasonography and endoscopic diagnosis of gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors with complete pathologic data were retrospectively analyzed. Differences in ultrasound endoscopy, pathology and immunohistochemistry were compared.

Results

Of the 130 patients, 101 patients underwent pathology and immunohistochemistry. Gastronintestinal mesenchymal tumors were leiomyoma, stromal tumors, and lipomas. Ultrasound endoscopy in 96 patients was consistent with the results obtained by pathology and immunohistochemistry. Lesions were located in the esophagus and stomach. The sensitivity, specificity, estimated accuracy of ultrasound endoscopic is higher. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of endoscopic ultrasonography in the diagnosis of lipoma were 100.00%. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values for the diagnosis of stromal tumors and leiomyoma were100.00% vs 85.00%, 82.61% vs 95.24%, 68.18% vs 72.00%, 100.00% vs 96.29%.

Conclusion

Ultrasound endoscopy in the diagnosis of mesenchymal tumors in the digestive tract has a high accuracy, can be gradually extended in clinical practice.
