Research progress of intestinal microbiota′s effect on enteric glial cells

Abstract:

Intestinal microbiota, which is composed of deverse microorganism, plays an important role in enteric nervous system, particularly in the enteric glial cells. Recently, numerous researches have shown that intestinal microbiota plays a critical role in the occurrence, development and immunologic function of enteric glial cells. This finding will provide a new way for the treatment of intestinal disorders. In this paper, we provide a brief review of the current researches about the effects of intestinal microbiota on the enteric glial cells.
