To study nursing measures for irritant dermatitis after ileostomy in order to improve patients′ living quality after enterostomy.

Cinical data of 28 patients who developed dermatitis after ileostomy between January 2014 to December 2014 were collected and analysed. A variety of nursing measures were used to solve these complications.

7 cases of hospitalized patients were treated and assessed daily by corresponding nurse until the dermatitis was healing. The other 21 cases were tracked and assessed via follow up visit. All cases with irritant dermatitis healed within 2 to 8 days without recurrence in one month follow up period.

Possible reasons of the dermatitis should be carefully analyzed according to the skin status around the stoma. Detailed instructions of ostomy care knowledge and skills should be interpreted prudentially. And different treatment approaches should be used according to the degree of dermatitis to avoid the stimulation of feces on the skin and facilitate the healing of dermatitis.
