Treatment progression in colorectal cancer liver metastasis

Abstract:

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common gastrointestinal carcinomas, and the incidence and mortality rates are continually increasing worldwide. The main cause of death is liver metastasis. This article elaborates the current clinical treatments and recent advance. Those can be divided into two main treatments: the systemic treatments include neoadjuvant chemotherapy, conversion chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy; Local treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, radiofrequency ablation and interventional treatment, etc. Each treatment has its advantages and disadvantages. Multidisciplinary team would develop a more suitable scheme for patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer and realize personalized treatment .
