Expression and significance of TNF-α and IL-13 in ulcerative colitis

Abstract

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the levels of TNF-α and IL-13 in serum from patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)in comparison with those of the healthy people.

Methods

Serum was obtained from 30 UC subjects and 30 controls.ELISA was performed to evaluate the levels of TNF-α and IL-13 in serum.

Results

The level of TNF-α was significantly higher in UC patients than that in controls(P<0.05)and level of IL-13 was significantly lower in UC group compared with the control group(P<0.05).

Conclusion

TNF-α and IL-13 are closely related in UC and play an important role in the inflammatory progress of this disease.
